Electrical Designer - Control Systems & Heavy Equipment
Overview
We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Designer to support the design and development of electro?mechanical control systems for custom, heavy equipment projects. This is a hands?on role where you'll work closely with engineering and production teams to design, review, and support control panel systems from concept through assembly.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a manufacturing or industrial environment, contributing to fully customized, turnkey solutions. You'll be involved in every stage-from creating electrical designs to supporting testing and final delivery-making this a high?impact role with strong growth potential.
Compensation & Location
- Pay Rate: $38.00 - $63.00 per hour
- Employment Type: Full-time, 6?month contract?to?direct
- Location: Ashland, VA 23005 (Greater Richmond area)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm
- Design electrical control panels for custom heavy equipment and turnkey systems.
- Create and modify electrical drawings using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical, or Micro Station.
- Support motor control system design, including component selection and layout.
- Review and print electrical schematics and drawings for production and assembly.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and timelines.
- Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and setup of control systems prior to delivery.
- Support manufacturing and assembly teams by clarifying design intent and resolving technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in design processes and documentation accuracy.
- Maintain organized project documentation and drawing files.
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical, or Micro Station.
- Hands?on motor controls experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem?solving abilities.
- Willingness to support engineering and production teams in a hands?on environment.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing project needs.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to pass a background check (5-year review) and 5?panel drug screen.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD Electrical (highly preferred).
- Experience working in a manufacturing or control panel design environment.
- Familiarity with custom equipment design or turnkey systems.
- Interest in long?term growth within electrical design and industrial engineering.
