Overview

Lutron Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a 1st Shift Production Supervisor to join our growing Shading Solutions manufacturing team in Ashland, VA.

In this role, you will lead a team responsible for producing high‑quality smart shading products that are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time to meet customer commitments. More than a supervisor of daily operations, you'll be a coach, mentor, and champion of continuous improvement, helping develop engaged teams while driving excellence in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction. You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Supply Chain teams to solve problems, improve processes, and remove barriers that impact performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead production teams to safely manufacture quality products using standardized work and safety procedures.
  • Execute daily production plans to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals.
  • Monitor production, remove barriers, and proactively address issues impacting customer deliveries.
  • Coach and develop Production Leads through training, feedback, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Lead daily continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve operational performance.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to optimize production flow, materials, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Utilize MES, ERP, and inventory systems to maintain accurate production and material transactions.
  • Support new technologies, automation, equipment implementation, and process improvements.
  • Use data, visual management, and KPIs to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Foster an engaged, accountable culture focused on teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or operations, including production, warehousing, logistics, distribution, or related operational functions.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work 1st shift production schedule (Mon‑Fri from 6:00am to 2:30pm).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and engage team members through consistent coaching, real‑time feedback, and performance discussions that drive accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Experience setting and working with production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using ERP, inventory management, or manufacturing systems.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization to work as cross‑functional teams.
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H‑1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.

The salary range for this position is dependent on the selected candidate’s experience and the level at which they are hired. Starting pay: $74,000–$90,000 per year;
