Lawrence Trailer & Truck Equipment is seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication Technician to join our team in Ashland, VA. This role is ideal for an experienced technician with strong fabrication, welding, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting abilities who takes pride in producing high-quality work and delivering exceptional service.
The ideal candidate will have experience building, installing, repairing, and troubleshooting truck equipment and bodies in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities- Fabricate, install, repair, and service truck bodies and related equipment including:
- Utility bodies
- KUV bodies
- Flatbeds
- Dump bodies
- Hydraulic systems
- Perform welding, mechanical repairs, component replacements, and equipment installations
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and service manuals
- Maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards in all shop operations
- Work closely with management and team members to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Provide professional communication and customer service to internal and external customers
- Previous experience as a fabrication technician, mechanic, truck equipment technician, or related role required
- Strong knowledge of:
- Welding and fabrication
- Hydraulics
- Electrical systems
- General mechanical repair
- Ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues efficiently
- Experience with truck equipment installation preferred
- MIG welding experience strongly preferred
- Must own personal tools
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and urgency
- Dependable with strong work ethic and communication skills
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
