HVAC Technician - Ashland, VA

Overview: Trane Technologies, through its businesses including Trane® and Thermo King, creates sustainable climate solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation. This role supports customers in a defined market with diverse commercial facilities such as healthcare, process manufacturing, education, and office complexes.

• Field‑based, on‑site at customer locations (5 days per week)
• Work schedule:
  
  Monday to Thursday onsite;
  Friday flexible between onsite and virtual
• Collaboration with internal teams on unexpected issues or customer interactions

• Serve as the primary service and maintenance contact for customers in the assigned market.
• Commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up HVAC systems in a commercial environment.
• Utilize knowledge of air‑conditioning theory, pipe fitting, mechanical layouts, and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Coordinate with team leader or project manager and customer to determine requirements, forecast issues, gather materials, and schedule onsite work.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by providing timely, accurate service and adhering to company policies.
• Operate company equipment safely, record asset use and maintain security of assets.
• Work overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays as business requires.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum). 5+ years HVAC experience preferred.
• Technical school or formal HVAC training preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and handheld computing devices (smartphone, iPad).
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving, repeated minor infractions).
• EPA certification preferred.

• Must safely operate a vehicle using a seat belt.
• Must wear required safety equipment (helmet, goggles, fall protection harness, safety boots).
• Must be able to twist trunk 90 ° in each direction, squat, touch the floor, reach overhead, and stand on concrete for up to 4 hours.
• Lifting: regularly move up to 10 lb., often 40 lb., occasionally >40 lb.
• Must safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit while carrying equipment up to 50 lb.
• Must maneuver through confined areas (as small as 30” × 45”).
• Must access rooftops with extensions or fixed ladders to heights of 15–20 ft., occasionally up to 50 ft+.
• Possibility of exposure to variable weather, moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical shock, and noisy environments.

Hourly rate: $23.80 – $43.85 per hour.
