Key Responsibilities
  • Deliverhands-on, field-based training on the operation of petroleum tank wagons, including pre-trip inspections, coupling/uncoupling, and emergency procedures.
  • Instruct drivers onsafe loading and unloadingof petroleum products at terminals and customer sites.
  • Demonstrate proper use of hoses, grounding equipment, vapor recovery systems, and spill prevention tools.
  • Conduct ride-alongs andon-the-job evaluationsto assess driver performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Lead classroom sessions covering DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company-specific safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials and SOPs.
  • Support incident investigations and provide retraining as needed.
  • Travel frequently to various company locations and training sites.
  • Overnight stays may be required depending on training schedules and locations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in petroleum transportation or fuel delivery.
  • Valid CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  • Certified Trainer or Instructor credentials (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and hazardous materials regulations.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor drivers in both classroom and field environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and stay overnight as needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and telematics systems.
