Role Description

The Civil/Utilities Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Ashland, WI, responsible for managing excavation, sitework, and underground utility projects from planning through completion. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating project schedules, supervising field crews, managing subcontractors, and ensuring work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves overseeing material and equipment needs, tracking project costs, and maintaining clear communication with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.

The Project Manager will also review plans and specifications, mitigate risks, resolve site issues, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in project management for civil construction or underground utilities, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Strong expeditor and expediting skills to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and documentation.
  • Experience with inspection activities, quality control, and compliance with local codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in logistics management, including coordinating crews, equipment, and subcontractors across multiple job sites.
  • Knowledge of excavation, sitework, and utility installation methods and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and utility drawings.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with field staff, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency with basic project management software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to work on-site in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Relevant technical diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
