Overview

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects, identifying needs and providing advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate within the branch and through various channels with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.
  • Identify referral opportunities that further grow the customer’s relationship with BMO beyond personal banking.
  • Welcome and guide customers as they walk into the branch lobby, and offer advice on available digital and self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  • Conduct client conversations about banking services, recommend alternative banking channels, and provide personal banking and investment advice.
  • Meet customer transaction‑based needs with seamless execution.
  • Review customer profiles and engage customers in needs‑based conversations to identify potential opportunities and address everyday banking plans and credit card needs.
  • Support operational activities such as inventory management, escalated service requests, follow‑up on customer applications, filing, opening and closing activities.
  • Probe to understand customer personal banking and credit card needs and integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations.
  • Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Take initiative to find creative approaches that make each customer’s experience feel personal.
  • Look for ways to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience.
  • Contribute to business results and the overall experience delivered.
  • Work across multiple branches or through various channels based on market needs; adjust schedule as required.
  • Follow through on risk and compliance processes and policies to safeguard customers’ assets, maintain their privacy, and act in their best interest.
  • Maintain current knowledge of personal banking products, practices, and trends, and integrate them into customer conversations.
  • Identify and report suspicious patterns of activity that may be related to money laundering.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements for the jurisdiction and protect the bank’s assets.
  • Complete complex and diverse tasks within given rules and limits.
  • Analyze issues and determine next steps; escalate as required.
  • Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework in line with the approved Risk Appetite.
Qualifications
  • Typically between 1–2 years of relevant experience and/or certification in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Canada only:
    Registration to sell investment products completed or in progress (must be completed within 12 months).
  • Confidence and experience in the use of social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications.
  • Some experience in consultative customer service or sales roles, with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
  • Basic knowledge of specialized sales and business banking solutions to refer to specialists.
  • Passionate commitment to helping customers and a focus on results.
  • Resourceful self‑starter with courage, confidence, and the ability to approach customers.
  • Readiness to collaborate and work in different capacities as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and connections with customers.
  • Listening, problem‑solving, and flexible, creative responses to new challenges.
  • Basic specialized knowledge.

Compensation

Salary: $41,714.00 – $50,000.00 (Salaried). Compensation varies based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Commission structure may apply. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the listed salary represents expected target for the first year.
