Job Overview

BMO Retail Banking Sales & Service associates deliver exceptional service to BMO customers by identifying their needs, providing tailored financial advice, and guiding them through a range of banking and lending solutions. They work collaboratively across the branch and through multiple channels, proactively engaging existing customers and prospects to build long‑term relationships and grow business.

• Identify customer needs and provide timely, needs‑based assessments.
• Recommend and explain a full spectrum of financial solutions, including everyday banking, retail investments, lending products, personal and small‑business financing, and digital self‑serve options.
• Engage customers to complete needs assessments and recommend the most suitable banking channels.
• Support accurate and timely customer transactions and resolutions of issues raised through audits and quality checks.
• Apply the risk management framework to protect the bank’s assets, maintain portfolio quality, and adhere to lending policies and yield guidelines.
• Makes credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in accordance with sound credit principles and bank procedures.
• Exercise consultative sales techniques, incorporate marketing promotions, and provide strategic advice to enhance the customer experience.
• Maintain accurate and complete customer information, ensuring data integrity in all entered records.
• Develop creative approaches to personalize each customer interaction and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with branch and market teams, including participation in multiple branches or channels as business needs dictate.
• Follow risk and compliance processes, protect customer privacy, resolve suspicious activity, and comply with all regulatory and legal requirements.
• Handle complex tasks and escalations, analyze issues, and determine appropriate next steps.

• Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post‑secondary degree in a related field desired.
• Registration to sell investment products (as required for the jurisdiction).
• Appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
• Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs and solutions, as well as retail investments and lending products.
• Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role with a passion for delivering a personal experience.
• Proficiency in using social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, listening, problem‑solving, organization, collaboration, and analytical skills.
• Self‑starter who is resourceful, confident, and able to approach customers with courage and creativity.
• U.S. Only: must be authorized to originate consumer loans under Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act, and hold a valid Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry registration.

$41,714.00 – $65,000.00 (Salaried). Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and education. Commission structure may be included for eligible roles.
