The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine and moderately complex laboratory tests across multiple diagnostic areas, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and toxicology. The role involves analyzing body fluids and specimens, ensuring the accuracy of test results, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

• Perform routine diagnostic laboratory tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, and immunology
• Prepare and process specimens for analysis, ensuring accurate labeling and handling
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following quality control protocols
• Follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines (AABB, CAP, FDA, CLIA)
• Support the investigation of transfusion reactions by collecting and preparing necessary samples
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, performing troubleshooting within scope
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and elevate issues as needed
• Communicate test results clearly and professionally to other healthcare professionals
• Follow laboratory safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and hospital procedures
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of test results, calibrations, and quality control measures
• Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation, and stocking lab supplies
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

• One year of recent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician
• Valid license when required and in compliance with state regulations

• National certification through ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB, HEW)
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

• Proficiency in PC skills and following written and verbal instructions
• Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend

• Technical/motor skills to grasp, fine manipulation, and assist with procedures
• Mental resilience to handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work both supervised and independently, manage irregular activities, and concentrate on details
