Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care to adult patients in a behavioral health setting, focusing on mental health disorders such as mood disorders, schizophrenia, and substance use issues. Deliver compassionate and evidence-based interventions to promote patient recovery and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient mental health status and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Respond to patient crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques and physical restraints only rarely when necessary.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication compliance, and recovery strategies.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Possess at least one year of psychiatric nursing experience.
• BLS certification is required; additional mental health certifications are preferred.
• Demonstrate experience managing patients with diagnoses such as substance use disorders, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
• Able to work flexible 12-hour shifts and adapt to dynamic scheduling.
• First-time travelers welcome; reliable transportation is preferred.
