About The Job
The nurse practitioner will assess, plan and treat the mental health and care needs of individuals with mental illness. Responsible for completion of psychiatric assessments and updates, medication management, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests and psychiatric crisis intervention. The nurse practitioner utilizes the nursing process as a framework for managing patient care. Utilizing advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, the nurse practitioner works independently and in collaboration and consultation with physicians and other health care providers.
RequirementsLicensed as an RN in Wisconsin. Masters or Doctorate degree in nursing. Certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization Advanced practice nurse prescriber certification. Demonstrated ability to meet performance criteria listed. Effective communication skills; verbal and written. Maintains appropriate medical staff affiliation. Must be able to speak the English language and write in an understandable manner. Must be competent to serve specific patient populations.
May staff department as primary provider with physician back-up in house.
