Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care for obstetric and neonatal patients within the labor and delivery unit. Ensures safe, efficient patient care while adhering to industry standards and hospital protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor obstetric and neonatal patients, including fetal heart rates and vital signs.
- Administer medications and titrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, and insulin as ordered.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and support staff to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient progress and clinical findings accurately using EFM systems and monitors.
- Function as a charge nurse or house supervisor, managing shifts and staffing assignments.
- Respond to emergent deliveries and support multidisciplinary team during high-risk situations.
Qualifications:
- Hold current BLS, NRP, ACLS, and EFM certifications.
- Possess 2-3 years of independent OB, labor, postpartum, and newborn nursing experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring, including GE CPN monitor and Novii systems.
- Be capable of managing titratable IV drips and complex obstetric cases.
- Willing to float across departments on low census days as needed.
- Maintain compliance with AWHONN guidelines and hospital policies.
