Global Chemical Manufacturer | Greater Cleveland Area
Are you an Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving complex power and reliability challenges in a large-scale manufacturing environment? A leading global chemical manufacturer is seeking an E&I Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, safety, and performance of electrical distribution and instrumentation systems at a major production facility near Cleveland.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on troubleshooting, power systems work, and driving reliability improvements in a collaborative plant environment. You’ll work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to diagnose issues, improve systems, and help ensure safe, efficient plant operations.
What You’ll Do:As the site’s E&I engineering resource, you will:
- Support the E&I maintenance team with technical expertise and troubleshooting
- Lead or participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and incident investigations
- Improve plant reliability by identifying and implementing electrical and instrumentation solutions
- Develop engineering scopes, maintenance procedures, and preventive maintenance programs
- Provide engineering support for turnarounds (TARs), capital projects, and plant upgrades
- Troubleshoot complex power distribution and instrumentation issues
- Perform power system analysis and protective relay coordination
- Review and interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, and electrical one‑line/three‑line drawings
- Work with vendors and engineering partners on arc flash, load flow, and coordination studies
- Participate in the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program
- Collaborate with operations and technicians to prioritize reliability improvements
- Support PLC updates, logic modifications, and instrumentation selection
- Communicate regularly with field operations and maintenance teams to resolve issues quickly
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Approximately 5–10+ years of electrical or E&I engineering experience in manufacturing, chemicals, refining, or industrial environments
- Troubleshooting motor controls up to 4160V
- Power system fundamentals and electrical distribution
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA 70B, and NFPA 70E
- Ability to size conduits, cables, feeders, MCCs, and motors
- Experience reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, ladder logic, and function block diagrams
- Familiarity with SKM Power Tools (or similar power system software) is a plus
- Experience working with protective relays, arc flash studies, and coordination studies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
- Problem‑solver with a focus on safety and reliability
