Job Overview
Huntsman is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to support the Advanced Materials Division in Ashtabula, Ohio. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and focuses on designing and developing processes that transform raw materials into diverse chemical products while minimizing health, safety, and cost risks.
Responsibilities- Deploy new processes and systems for chemical manufacturing, applying engineering principles to oversee implementation.
- Lead technical development efforts at the site level, evaluating data, generating training materials, and creating work procedures.
- Execute projects for manufacturing processes and systems, using effective project‑management techniques and coordinating internal and external resources.
- Maintain technical documentation for process systems and evaluations, including drawings, calculations, and design specifications.
- Monitor and maximize process capabilities—quality, cycle times, costs—for existing products and processes.
- Work collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds and assist other employees in achieving Huntsman company goals.
- Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and complete company‑required training programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or chemical engineering.
- Minimum of 2+ years of related experience, with 2 or more years leading process‑design efforts.
- Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
- Excellent organizational, written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Basic understanding of process‑equipment design—including pumps, polymerization reactors, pressure‑relief‑valve sizing, material balances, and instrument specifications.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels to plan, organize, and complete multiple projects from inception to startup.
- Manufacturing experience with flammable or highly hazardous chemicals, demonstrating excellent safe‑work behaviors (PSM/RMP preferred).
- Comfortable functioning in roles ranging from plant‑floor troubleshooting to leading long‑term process‑improvement projects.
Must have an unrestricted right to work in the United States. Must be willing to work extra hours and overtime if required to meet daily production objectives.
