The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is an essential part of the Human Resource team and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the payroll and benefits administration processes and maintaining accurate information in the HRIS, Paycor. Working closely with the HR team, you will also help to manage the HR inbox, maintain employee information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process bi-weekly payrolls for 350+ employees
- Monitor and support the payroll by setting up and maintaining all payroll configurations, pay types, deductions, and taxes.
- Assist the finance department with reporting and reconciliation of payroll, benefits and 401k/403b information as well as W-2s for state and federal filings.
- Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans, including health, dental, vision, 401k/403b, paid time off
- Manages the benefits open enrollment process and supports staff with questions and enrollment.
- Administer employee benefits including, but not limited to, COBRA, FMLA and Disability Leave, adhering to company policy and state and federal law.
- Support the selection, coordination, and set up of benefit plans.
- Coordinate with vendors for effective payroll and benefits administration.
- Stay current on HR laws and regulations, providing guidance to ensure compliance.
- Ensure accurate 401k/403b deductions, loans, reporting, and payments.
- Implement necessary changes in processes and procedures to align with legal requirements and company polcies.
- Provide clear and concise communication to both hourly, management and C-Suite team members regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Process all Bureau of Workers Compensation claims and processes.
- Knowledge of U.S. state and federal wage and labor laws (EEOC, compensation FLMA, etc.), regulations, rules, policies, and procedures required
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office with extensive experience with Excel.
- Knowledge of Paycor, HRIS and the ability to pull reports and update backend processes.
