HR Manager, HR Generalist / Talent Management, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
At INEOS Pigments, we value the contribution of our people in making us one of the largest producers of titanium dioxide in North America. Providing numerous products and services to industries around the globe, from coatings to plastics to paper and other end-uses, we invest in employee development and offer a wide range of career opportunities, offering everyone the chance to broaden their experience and build a professionally rewarding career.
AboutThe Role
Working closely with the Site Director Ashtabula and the global Human Resources Director for the business, the Site Human Resources Manager leads the HR function. The site employs 450 people and operates in a unionized, capital-intensive environment. This is a hands-on site HR leadership role, with explicit ownership across the full HR agenda:
Industrial Relations, Change Management, Recruitment, Learning & Development, Reward, Recognition, HRIS and HR Operations, including acting as “first chair” in day-to-day labor relations and union engagement.
- Lead the site HR function and act as the senior HR voice on the site leadership team.
- Take ownership of the relationship with the union. Lead collective bargaining, grievance handling and day-to-day labor relations, and move the relationship from its current state to one that supports a reliable, productive plant.
- Work alongside operations leadership to raise plant reliability through manning levels, shift patterns, attendance, skills and working practices.
- Build leadership accountability across the site management team and set a clear standard for how performance is managed.
- Reinforce the INEOS approach to safety, health and the environment in everything the site does.
- Drive workforce productivity and remove practices that hold back output.
- Lead recruitment, talent development and capability building for the site.
This role calls for a senior site HR leader who has built a career in a process industry, chemicals or a manufacturing industry with similar characteristics and who understands what it means to run people processes inside a continuous production plant where output, safety and cost all sit on the same balance. The right person has experienced these environments and is at ease with the rhythm of shift work, plant turnarounds and the pressure that comes when every lost hour of production is volume the business could have sold.
CapabilitiesThe central requirement is US labor relations experience in a unionized setting. The person in this role will lead collective bargaining, handle grievances and manage the day-to-day relationship with the workforce and its representatives and will have done so before through contested disputes rather than only in periods of calm. Ashtabula's industrial relations are in need of improvement. What matters most is a track record of improving a difficult relationship and moving it onto a more productive footing, not simply of maintaining one that was already sound.
LeadershipStyle
Entrepreneurial and fast-moving, this is a solid communicator ready to accept accountability and delegate appropriately. The Site Human Resources Manager is hands-on, owns the outcome, and operates close to the plant and its people. Someone who needs a large, layered function will feel uncomfortable. This is a person with proven judgment, who understands the needs of the business and management colleagues and is ready to lead, decide and act.
A university degree in a relevant subject is required. Additional professional qualifications in human resources management will be helpful.
