Reporting to the Director, Facilities, the Building Maintenance Technician will complete a variety of routine building maintenance duties including facility repairs, plumbing, painting, carpentry, basic HVAC/electrical, moving furniture or equipment, and preventive maintenance. The Technician will ensure an orderly and safe working environment for all employees and patients at Signature Health.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED- May be required to work at various Signature Health locations as scheduled in situations of critical need.
- Create a safe and secure work environment for all staff and patients by opening and closing the building, performing building walk‑throughs and setting alarms.
- Perform carpentry, plumbing and other routine maintenance tasks including basic HVAC/electrical tasks.
- Perform various facility repairs and move furniture/equipment as necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance/inspections and keep proper documentation.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
- Perform cleaning and related maintenance activities such as clearing walkways and removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand‑operated tools or small power equipment.
- Attend to all facility‑related emergencies under the direction of the Director.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, conferences, events, etc.
- Maintain positive relationships with outside vendors and contract labor.
- Maintain a high level of organization of the maintenance storage areas and proper record‑keeping of all maintenance logs and work orders.
- Take classes as required in facilities maintenance methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and others.
- Comply with all agency policies and procedures.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years’ experience in routine facilities maintenance with demonstrated knowledge of repair techniques, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting skills required.
- Valid unencumbered Ohio driver’s license and proof of driver’s insurance required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of power tools.
- Work is performed both interior and exterior with exterior climates varying from extremely hot to extremely cold depending on the season. Interior work is typical of either an office or clinical environment.
- While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and extended hours may be required.
- Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone and computer work.
- Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Vision:
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. - Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
- Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens while performing job duties.
- Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
