Shift Supervisor (Foreman)

Huntsman is seeking a Shift Supervisor (Foreman) to support the Advanced Materials Division located in Ashtabula, Ohio. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Job Scope

The Shift Supervisor is an exempt position responsible for ensuring quality production in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner according to established schedules, procedures, and processes by directly managing a rotating 12‑hour shift.

In Summary, As The Shift Supervisor (Foreman), You Will
  • Ensure quality production in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner according to established schedules, procedures, and processes.
  • Directly manage a rotating 12‑hour shift of chemical operators, including one lead person.
Safety
  • Promote and use Zero Harm tools.
  • Lead shift safety meetings / MDI meetings.
  • Be First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Serve as Incident Commander for Emergency Response.
  • Follow procedures and processes for generation of Safe Work Permits, line breaks, vessel entry, hot work, work at heights, and LTT for production.
  • Help other departments as time allows.
Problem Solving
  • Enter work orders in EMAINT systems.
  • Resolve product‑related issues and involve engineering as required.
  • Resolve personnel issues as needed in conjunction with HR.
  • Resolve production issues with all processes in the plant.
  • Enter incidents and resolve those assigned to you for all issues.
Recordkeeping
  • Record production as required by ERP systems.
  • Generate a shift report in the correct format and with all the needed information.
  • Fill out weekly/monthly/quarterly critical items lists.
  • Write needed personnel documents such as reviews, warnings, and training records.
Communication
  • Communicates clear and concise production updates during plant and shift meetings.
  • Effectively communicates and influences operators, engineers, management, and peer supervisors.
  • Delivers shift training in a timely, clear, and efficient manner.
  • Translates information from sales, management, and engineering into actionable guidance for operators.
  • Ensures shift‑to‑shift continuity by providing accurate handoff and production updates.
  • Maintains strong communication and alignment with other shift leaders.
Leadership Skills
  • Provides strong shift leadership, engaging operators to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals while supporting management direction.
  • Supports the Production Manager with projects, procedures, and operational issues as needed.
  • Manages employee performance, including issue resolution, data‑driven decision making, and execution of disciplinary processes when required.
  • Oversees shift scheduling and production execution, ensuring proper staffing, prioritization of work, and achievement of production plans.
  • Ensures safe, efficient operations, monitoring workflows, equipment, and control points while maintaining compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Develops and mentors operators, supporting career progression and identifying high‑potential employees for advancement.
Qualifications
  • The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
  • Associate of Science (AS) degree in Process Technology or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR 5 or more years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous chemical experience with a continuing progression in responsibility.
  • Meeting and/or exceeding the requirements listed in the job description will make the employee eligible for advancement; failure to meet the requirements can initiate demotion without any prior disciplinary action.
Working Environment
  • Outdoor work conditions vary from cold and snowy in winter to very hot in summer; working outside in rain and snow will be necessary.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and wear a respirator for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter vessels for cleaning purposes.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs on a regular basis.
  • One 12‑hour rotating shift of chemical operators, including one lead person.
