GAI is seeking an Environmental Specialist II professional with 6–8 years of experience to join our talented and energetic team in Wisconsin. This position is eligible for a flexible hybrid workplace in accordance with our Telework Policy and involves both office and field environmental tasks. The primary responsibility is to lead field studies, documentation, siting, and permitting for energy projects, including wetland reviews, rare species surveys, aquatic studies, stormwater compliance, and environmental permitting.
Job duties also include proposal preparation, cost estimating, quality control reviews, and project support.
- Coordinate field surveys for wetlands, streams, endangered species, aquatic plants, invasive species, water quality, and environmental inspections.
- Lead transmission line siting investigations and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
- Perform office work such as data verification, report preparation, technical document creation, and environmental permit applications.
- Prepare or assist with proposals and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Travel 50% of time; daily travel throughout Wisconsin with overnight stays as required.
- Work under direction of a Project Manager and perform status and progress reporting to customers, project teams, and management.
- Write technical documents, maintain quality control, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Develop knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and apply them to project specifics.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff when assigned as a direct supervisor.
Expect 50% daily travel throughout Wisconsin; overnight stays are required as needed. Travel will involve seasonal conditions typical of the Upper-Midwest Region and may include driving outside daylight hours.
RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or a related field.
Experience: 6+ years of experience in environmental field studies, permitting, and project support.
