We’re seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Assistant Controller to help drive excellence in our financial operations and support scaling our finance function in a dynamic, boutique manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on role partnering closely with the CFO on month‑end close, payroll, HR, accounts payable, and internal control improvements.
Payroll/HR- Transmit payroll on a bi‑weekly basis to payroll service
- Follow‑up with staff on outstanding time records
- Review timesheets for errors and make any necessary corrections
- Prepare the bi‑weekly timesheet allocation and corresponding journal entries
- Handle all HR activities associated with insurance, hiring, terminations and PTO
- Assist with compliance to all state and federal labor laws
- Perform bank account transfers as directed by Controller and Managing Director
- Maintain account transfer records in business system
- Perform all aspects of A/P, including coding invoices, securing approvals and inputting to the business system daily
- Review the corporate credit card journal entries and supporting documentation and reconcile with payments
- Manage/monitor electronic and auto payments for various vendor accounts
- Review vendor activity to ensure all monthly invoices have been received and processed
- Review contract obligations to ensure all contract invoices have been received and processed
- Ensure Inventory transactions are accurate and posted to the correct GL accounts including freight in transit
- Complete and review month end journals and reconciliations
- Coordinate the provision of information to any external auditors
- Ensure that company accounting practices comply with GAAP
- Accounting for other related entities
- Serve as back‑up bank contact.
- Participate in setting up departmental budgets
Desired
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible general accounting experience within a corporation.
Must be proficient with Excel, Windows, and have excellent Administration skills. Assist the Controller with General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close.
