Aspen Country Day School seeks a creative and energetic Middle School Theater Teacher for the 2026/2027 academic year. The ideal candidate fosters a love of storytelling, performance, and collaboration while supporting students’ social-emotional growth and confidence. This position plays a vital role in the artistic life of the school and in nurturing joyful theatrical learning experiences for students in fifth through eighth grade.

This PreK‑Eighth Grade school is known for its intentional approach to challenging and nurturing children as they build confidence, resilience, and joy in learning. Vibrant academic, arts, and outdoor programs give students a solid foundation for lives of meaning and purpose. At its newly redeveloped campus in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the school welcomes approximately 300 students from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

It is accredited by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.

Salary

The wage rate for this position will include a salary range of $60,000-$75,000 and will be commensurate with experience. Housing assistance may be available.

This is a full-time position with health, dental, vision, disability insurance and retirement plan offerings.

Essential Functions
  • Teach performing arts in Fifth through Eighth Grades.
  • Implement drama curriculum to build skills, foster confidence, and provide exposure to the performing arts in public speaking, dance, movement, improvisation, stage performance
  • Lead a year-end performance for students
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Supervise children outside the classroom, eg. lunch duty, recess, etc.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary lessons
  • Engage students in traditional and non-traditional performances
  • Collaborate and work with both co-curricular teachers and homeroom teachers to integrate arts into the project-based curriculum
  • Fulfill all other faculty responsibilities that may occur outside the school day, including writing reports and curriculum planning
Successful candidates will have:
  • Ability to work in a collegial and highly collaborative environment
  • A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, creative approach, and excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Teaching experience, preferably in drama, in a school environment
  • Bachelor’s degree
Expectations

This is a full-time position that begins in mid-August 2026. The standard schedule is 7:45am to 3:45pm, with 2 faculty meetings per month until 4:30, although team planning meetings may require additional time. Additionally, all faculty members share daily supervision duties at the school. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year.

This position requires a pre-employment criminal background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

    Making frequent or continuous movements.

    Remaining in a stationary position.
