Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director, TRIO Student Support Services, the Student Support Services Coordinator (TRIO) provides educational advising, career/life planning, student registration assistance, and support services to first‑generation, low‑income, and students with disabilities in compliance with the TRIO SSS Grant. The position is grant‑funded and continued employment depends on continued grant funding.

Academic Advisor II

Reports to the Associate Dean of the Glenwood and Spring Valley campuses. Provides individual academic advising, coordinates campus student services, interprets college policies, participates in retention and recruitment, maintains accurate records, and contributes to the campus mission of Colorado Mountain College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic, transfer, and career advising; registration and financial aid assistance; and general guidance for students.
  • Identify and address students’ academic needs through assessment, planning, and recommendation of courses and programs.
  • Interpret placement assessments and develop comprehensive academic plans in partnership with students.
  • Track and report student progress to support retention and completion initiatives.
  • Plan and lead workshops, orientation sessions, and other student seminars.
  • Collaborate with faculty, registration, financial aid, and external partners to enhance student success.
  • Assist with outreach to high schools, TRIO programs, and community partners.
TRIO/SSS Coordinator

Specific Duties
  • Interpret assessment tests for applicants.
  • Provide individual advising and develop academic plans for program participants.
  • Perform risk assessments and offer personal guidance.
  • Coordinate tutoring programs and train tutors.
  • Plan and implement field trips, cultural events, and workshops.
  • Maintain participant records, prepare reports, and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Disseminate program information and promote services at campus meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with other CMC campuses on college transfer visits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, or related field with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with six years of experience.
  • High school and post‑secondary experience essential; counseling internship or practicum preferred.
  • Master’s degree considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with college academic requirements and sensitivity to the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged students.
  • Experience in programs that improve access and success for underrepresented populations, including adult learners.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide academic and career/life counseling and mentoring.
  • Experience with assessment testing, data interpretation, and statistical reporting.
  • Proficiency with higher education technology and current practices.
  • Public speaking and workshop presentation experience.
Benefits and Compensation

Annual salary range: $64,024.61 – $71,138.45, commensurate with qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, pet insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, mental health resources, and healthy lifestyle benefits. Relocation assistance may be available.

Additional Requirements

The position is required for Colorado residents or those who obtain residency within 30 days of hire. No visa sponsorship is available. Background check and driving record required. The role may involve travel, evening, and weekend hours.
