Position: Education Specialist (Bilingual-Spanish)

Education Specialist
- Bilingual (Spanish)

The part-time Bilingual Education Specialist at the Aspen Art Museum works with the Education Team to support all bilingual education initiatives. This individual is responsible for facilitating bilingual programs and supporting school partnerships to expand access to arts education across Colorado's Western Slope. The role supports the museum's mission of positioning itself as a leading institution for contemporary art, education, and community engagement by increasing accessibility for Spanish-speaking students, families, and educators.

Reports To

  • Assistant Director of Education, and is a member of the Education Team

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Bilingual Teaching and Program Facilitation

  • Supports and teaches Education Department programs, including Drop-In Art School, Arte en Español, Pride Extravaganza, Dynamic Arts, Youth Art Expo, Illuminating Art and other public programs.
  • Supports and teaches School Group Visit tours and workshops

Bilingual Translation

  • Occasional translation of education materials from English to Spanish, including but not limited to lesson plans, website content, registration and sign-up forms, newsletters, gallery activity guides, reports, and evaluations.
  • Supports the development and implementation of bilingual education resources for museum programs and school partnerships.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Teaching experience, including lesson design, planning, and classroom management.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and arts education practices.
  • Ability to engage students, educators, and families with professionalism and warmth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching artists, schools, and community partners.
  • Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in programming.
  • Flexibility, dependability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion while interacting with the public.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends, evenings, and extended hours as required for programs.

Hours and Work Schedule

This is a part-time position that generally requires availability Monday through Friday with an occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work.

Pay: $30 to $32/hr doq
