The City of Aspen is seeking a collaborative design professional to support the planning, design, and implementation of mobility and infrastructure projects across the community. This position plays a key role in advancing transportation, mobility, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects that enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall experience of Aspen’s streets, transit systems, and public spaces.
We are open to candidates with backgrounds in engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, community planning, or related fields who bring a strong foundation in project management and execution and a passion for multimodal transportation infrastructure and management, as well as strong interdisciplinary problem‑solving and collaboration skills.

Essential Job Functions- Project Manager II: Performs developing professional project management, planning, design, and construction coordination work with increasing independence in support of multimodal transportation infrastructure, mobility systems, and public right‑of‑way improvements.
- Project Manager III: Performs intermediate‑level professional project management, planning, design, and construction coordination work in support of multimodal transportation infrastructure, mobility systems, and public right‑of‑way improvements.
- Senior Project Manager: Performs advanced professional project management, strategic planning, design and construction oversight, and leadership work in support of complex transportation infrastructure, mobility systems, capital projects, and public right‑of‑way initiatives.
- Contributes to the planning and siting of multimodal infrastructure such as bike share facilities, transit stops, streetscapes, and pedestrian improvements.
- Provides technical input on projects related to mobility, public spaces, and facilities within the public right of way.
- Reviews plans, construction projects, and proposals for impacts to transportation systems, public right of way, and user experience.
- Supports interdisciplinary design and construction efforts that integrate engineering, planning, stormwater, and other design considerations.
- Reviews and comments on development proposals, special event applications, 811 reviews, and similar.
- Coordinates with procurement, contracting, other departments, and the public to achieve departmental objectives and projects.
- Supports data collection and analysis related to traffic, parking, transit, and multimodal use.
- Maintains City‑owned traffic counters and manages traffic count data.
- Participates in citywide and regional efforts related to transit, bicycle, and pedestrian systems.
- Contributes to initiatives focused on safety, accessibility, and mobility innovation.
- Reviews and comments on Traffic Control Plans as to their impact on mobility and parking programs.
- Leads in‑house design work and construction for the Transportation Department, including directing and training staff in preparing plans in accordance with required standards and codes.
- Acts as construction project manager and owner’s representative for city capital projects.
- Oversees maintenance, repair, and long‑range capital planning for the Rubey Park Transit Center and City‑owned bus stops.
