Job Title: Forestry Technician
Department: Parks and Open Space

Season Dates: May 4, 2026 - Nov. 1, 2026
Pay Rate: $26.00/ hour
Position summary: The City of Aspen Parks & Open Space Department seeks a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the City’s Forestry Program. This position is a crucial member of the Forestry team and gains diverse experience in the fields of urban forestry, arboriculture, and natural resource management. The ideal candidate is able to collaborate effectively with a team and engage positively with the public while working primarily in outdoor environments.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the supervision of the City Forester. This position is non-supervisory.
Essential Job Functions:Forestry Crew
- Works as part of a dedicated team committed to the stewardship of Aspen’s community forest.
- Conducts tree care operations such as pruning, removal, chipping, and planting.
- Assists with maintaining the health of Aspen’s parks, trails, and open spaces through natural resource management projects as assigned.
- Demonstrates initiative, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow within the Parks and Open Space Department.
- Supports positive relationships between local government and the public by demonstrating courteous, respectful, and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff.
- Performs duties with attention to detail and demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
