Job Title: Parks Field Technician
Department: Parks and Open Space
Classification: Non-exempt, seasonal
Season Dates: May 4, 2026 - Nov. 1, 2026
Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
Position summary: This seasonal role supports the Parks and Open Space Department by performing maintenance tasks such as caring for park assets (benches, trash receptacles, playgrounds), litter removal, and mowing turf. Additional responsibilities may include noxious weed management, pruning and planting of trees and shrubs, and operation of mowers, vehicles, and work carts. Employees may interact with the public and are expected to respond professionally, directing questions to crew leaders as needed.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direct supervision of Parks Field Supervisor.
Essential Job FunctionsPark Maintenance and Grounds
- Performs restoration tasks, including seeding, planting, weeding, and controlling noxious vegetation.
- Plants, trims, irrigates, and maintains trees, shrubs, and grasses.
- Mows turf and performs general turf management.
Facilities and Equipment
- Assists with parks construction-related duties, including making repairs, improvements, and building park facilities and grounds structures.
- Performs construction tasks associated with the development and maintenance of parks, trails, and open space facilities.
- Completes maintenance and repairs of park facilities and assets.
- Operates and maintains equipment and hand tools, including but not limited to landscape and construction tools, skid loaders, tractors, maintenance carts, and light trucks.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided. Interest in landscaping, natural resources, or environmental stewardship. Customer service, teamwork, or volunteer experience in outdoor or community settings is helpful but not required.
Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Email), and have a basic understanding of online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms.

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
