Job Description

Position Summary The Group Sales Manager is responsible for increasing year-round overall top line revenues through the development of group business through proactive and reactive sales of guestroom blocks, events, and group business. This position reports to the Director of Sales.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000 plus sales incentive plan. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions /

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing sales strategy to drive top line revenues for guestrooms and catered events
  • Responsible for proactive group sales
  • Responsible for group guestroom contracts & call-in blocks
  • Complete the sales process from initial sales contact through contract signing, ensuring a smooth customer experience
  • Coordinates and conducts Group site tours as needed
  • Participates in all sales/events department meetings as instructed by the Associate Director of Sales
  • Develop and continually enhance relationships with key community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility and increase Group market share
  • Act as liaison with other departments in the hotel via weekly meetings to provide information in a timely manner and ensure group and catering needs are carried out as contracted
  • Assist in preparation and proofing of Banquet Event Orders as needed, communicate effectively with customers, managers and associates to ensure that all room set-ups, equipment, supplies, staffing and menus meet/exceed customers expectations
  • Checks in with clients while on-site or in town
  • Uses Delphi to track sales efforts as well as complete & detailed notes
  • Follows up post event with Manager(s), reviews event recap notes from banquets & event manager
  • Follows up with a formal thank you to the client, continues with next steps for rebooking
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel sales with a focus on corporate group sales required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in writing proposals, contracts, and budgets preferred
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, Delphi/Amadeus, HMS, and Property Management Systems
  • Knowledge of products or services
  • Detailed knowledge of internal processes, workflows, and decision‑making protocols
  • Ability to meet or exceed individual sales goals for their territory as determined by the Director of Sales
  • Skills in managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to travel as needed for business within the assigned sales region
  • Ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work with accounting and operations teams to ensure correct and timely billing for groups
Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
  • No adverse or hazardous conditions
  • Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
