Space and Trails Facilities Supervisor; seasonal

Oversees operations and maintenance of Pitkin County Open Space and Trails (OST) buildings, facilities, and other amenities including employee housing units, restrooms, cabins, and parks.

• Performs alterations, installation, routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of buildings, facilities, amenities, and equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of systems including plumbing, electrical, irrigation, and HVAC.
• Inspects buildings, parks, and grounds to identify and prioritize maintenance, safety repairs, and needs.
• Supervises and instructs staff on assigned projects on an as needed basis. Supports crew development through training and fosters a positive work environment.
• Assists in developing and implementing facility maintenance plans; maintains a detailed database tracking all maintenance.
• Schedules and oversees contractors performing specialized repair and service work when needed.
• Responds to facility-related emergencies as needed.
• Supports trail maintenance crews with summer seasonal trail work when required.
• Tracks maintenance work, costs, and budgets using spreadsheets and other software.
• Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

• 3+ years of experience with construction, building maintenance, or a skilled trade.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tile/concrete, and irrigation experience; ability to use power and hand tools, including advanced powered equipment, such as snow blowers and power brooms.
• Experience working with Microsoft or Google spreadsheets.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s Licence and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

• Work is performed in a standard office environment and in the field throughout county OST properties and facilities. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions, potentially dangerous tools and machinery, and hazardous chemicals/fumes.
• Frequently lifts up to 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 feet; occasionally lifts up to 30 lbs. from floor to knuckle; frequently lifts up to 20 lbs. from shoulder to overhead; occasionally pushes and pulls items weighing up to 100 lbs.; occasionally performs bi-lateral lift of 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 feet; frequently lifts up to 35 lbs.
