Position Title: Facilities Technician
Department: Facilities and Maintenance
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Classification: Classified Full-time Non-exempt/Hourly
Contract Period: 12 Month (247 days with some variance depending on the year)
Work Shift: Monday thru Friday, 10am-6pm, and paid on-call coverage
Compensation: $29.58 to $36.78/hour depending on experience

Position Summary
The Facilities Technician is primarily responsible for assisting in the daily and ongoing building maintenance, facility infrastructure and grounds operations for the Aspen School District Campus.
Reporting to the Facility Manager, this position will represent facilities operations and serve students, colleagues and guests including handling complaints and responding to any emergency conditions.
This position works a shift of 10am-6pm Monday thru Friday along with on-call coverage supporting campus operations/events as identified by the Facility Manager.
Position Responsibilities- Work with facilities colleagues in order to maintain a variety of facilities equipment such as: HVAC equipment, plumbing, power distribution systems and equipment, fire/life safety, carpentry, painting, wall coverings, flooring, masonry, and district athletic facilities and sports field
- Perform routine and emergency repair and maintenance on structures and equipment in assigned areas
- Support the District & Athletic Events (varied day/evening & Saturday coverage)
- Knowledge in basic plumbing, repair & replace faucets, urinals, toilets and related fixtures
- Knowledge in basic electrical; repair and replace, switches, outlets, light fixtures and related fixtures
- Perform custodial equipment repair & maintenance as needed
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of HVAC components and fan coil units
- Perform campus exterior maintenance & repair, including landscaping & irrigation systems, track & turf and snow removal as needed
- Care, maintenance and inventory of all field maintenance equipment such as bobcat, loader, and attachments, and supplies
- Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, vendors and partners
- Promote a safe, professional and respectful working environment
- Knowledge of:
- Basic mechanical skills
- Various materials, tools, and methods including application, function and operation, common to the above listed trades
- Operation and use of modern office equipment including a computer and various software packages
- Application of energy efficiency and conservation practices in the performance of duties
- State certification standards and familiarity with annual reporting procedures
- Professional communication norms and standards (written and oral)
- Modern office procedures and methods
- Principles and procedures of record-keeping
- Microsoft Office and/or the Google Suite of office software
- Ability to:
- Because safety is essential to job performance, ability to understand and communicate well in English, both speaking and writing, is required;
Bilingual Spanish is a plus - Work a variable schedule to be present in all ASD and Sports Events to meet operational needs
- Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with children and adults contacted in the course of work by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, support, and professional conduct
- Demonstrate professionalism in handling disagreements and conflicts in a diplomatic manner, and contributing to a positive work/learning environment;
- Perform routine maintenance activities on established schedule
- Demonstrate flexibility with regard to interruptions and changing conditions
- Work efficiently to complete tasks with limited supervision and to meet deadlines
- Pick up and deliver equipment, materials, and other supplies as directed
- Maintain accurate work documentation/reports/records for the purpose of accounting as well as completing work in a timely manner
