JOB SUMMARYCoach and support teachers to promote student achievement and instruction. The coach partners with educators in his/her building for the purpose of improving instructional practices. In order to maximize educational effectiveness and student achievement, an instructional coach provides both immediate feedback and planned professional development that is aligned with building and district-level goals and grounded in day-to-day teaching practice.
QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Holds and maintains an appropriate license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon
- A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
- Ability to pass a background check and criminal justice fingerprinting
- Effectively maintain and practice the state adopted Model Core Teaching Standards (OAR )
- Demonstrates a very good command of the oral and written English language
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with teachers and administrators related to the job
- Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons
- Ability is required to schedule trainings, meetings, and events, gather, collate and classify data, and use job related equipment
- Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances, analyze data utilizing defined but different processes, and operate equipment using standardized methods
- Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and groups; work with data of varied types and purposes, and utilize specific job-related equipment.

- Experience supporting dual-language learners is a plus
- Perform physical requirements which may include:
- Moderate degree of physical stamina
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs.
- Repetitive movement of reaching overhead, extending, fine motor movement of hands and wrist
- Ability to use a telephone, computer, projector, and other office equipment
- Ability to make frequent trips to and from locations throughout the school building and grounds
- Expertise and demonstrated capacity to train educators in best practice instructional delivery methods
- Coach teachers on effective research-based teaching strategies, assessment strategies, and classroom management strategies
- Act as a liaison between teachers and administrators that communicates the professional development needs and other supports that are needed in the classrooms
- Coach teachers in using assessment data to design instruction to meet students' diverse needs
- Model the use of digital technology that is embedded in, or supplemental to the core curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers to demonstrate the usage of STAR assessment data, formative and unit assessments, curriculum and Common Core State Standards, to support, design, and develop instructional strategies and assessments to impact student outcomes
- Support teachers through coaching cycles on an individual, grade level or department basis
- Model use of innovative tools and instructional strategies to enhance instruction via co-planning, co-teaching, and in-class coaching
- Support teachers in their understanding of the state standards and alignment of curriculum with the state standards
- Organize peer observations for the professional development of all educators
- Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of curriculum maps
- Conduct daily observations, coaching, modeling and/or co-teaching in classrooms
- Collaborate with district teachers and administrators to align curriculum and instructional priorities K-12
- Work collaboratively with other instructional coaches, principals, and district administrators to meet district goals as defined in the strategic plan
- Research and support best practices for district implementation of an instructional coaching model that provides ongoing professional development in buildings and in classrooms every day
- Work collaboratively to develop instructional practices that are viable and guaranteed in all ASD classrooms
- Utilize best practices to design, implement and evaluate professional development activities delivered to ASD teaching staff
- Participate in and present at school staff meetings and district-level professional development sessions
