Job DescriptionTransportation Construction Inspector for NYSDOT Project in Queens and Brooklyn, New York City, NY.
DescriptionITE is looking for multiple construction inspectors to support highway construction projects. The primary duties for these positions will require the experience and knowledge of performing Highway & Bridge Construction Inspection duties including construction inspection, and the understanding of construction project administration methods and processes. This person will perform field inspection, material testing, and documentation along with other tasks.
REQUIREMENTSEssential functions of the Construction Inspector position include the verification of materials, equipment, and procedures being utilized and followed for the project in order to ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications, utilization of necessary equipment to perform required field tests to ensure compliance with project specifications and to control non-conformities, communication with clients, contractors, inspectors, and supervisors regarding specifications and testing, the preparation of written reports in accordance with contract requirements, and all other duties as assigned.
- Possess and maintain a valid NICET II certification in Transportation/Highway Construction, 10 Hour OSHA Construction certification, and ACI Concrete Field Testing certification.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience with agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, or Nassau County DPW on projects involving highways, bridges, street and structural work, that include elements such as sewers, catch basins and connections, drainage, water mains, utilities, curbs, sidewalks, roadways, mill and fill, structural steel and concrete, pile driving, railroads, traffic and street lights, street appurtenances, and associated work.
- Familiarity with the preparation of daily reports in accordance with the Manual for Uniform Record keeping (MURK) is required.
- Previous NYSDOT experience and knowledge of Nassau County specifications and standards are preferred.
- Must be detail oriented, and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Requires a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and within job sites as needed.
