Wage Range: $58.16 to $83.55 (dependent on experience)
The PACU Staff RN performs clerical duties as well as direct and indirect nursing duties in cooperation with other nursing staff and anesthesia personnel in the PACU. The position also assists with planning, organizing, and delivering quality patient care to pre‑ and post‑operative patients during routine and emergency situations. The RN may assist anesthesia personnel in emergency situations in the OR as available or necessary and works as scheduled or as required to meet patient needs.
Job Requirements- Ability to work in a chaotic and demanding environment.
- Ability to assess patients and act on findings accurately following protocols, procedures, and policy.
- Ability to access resources for regulatory and practice issues.
- Ability to perform skills to provide IV access and manage fluid infusions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and duties simultaneously.
- Ability to mentally prioritize tasks.
- Ability to maintain a professional, calm, pleasant, and tactful demeanor during patient care.
- Effective communication in written, spoken, and reading English.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse with the Oregon State Board of Nursing and Washington State Board of Nursing.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- ACLS and PALS certifications required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Preferred experience in PACU or critical care nursing.
- Recent RN graduates (within the last 12 months) or those who have not practiced in an acute care facility within the last 24 months and have not completed a residency program must complete the CMH‑provided program if available.
- Stand and walk most of the shift; push and pull stretchers and equipment, including adult stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, crash carts, and equipment carts.
- Perform bending, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling for 8 – 12 hours.
- Lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Adapt to varied lighting in clean, well‑ventilated environments.
- Visual acuity required to read and interpret monitors, computer screens, and written documentation.
- Manual dexterity required for equipment operation, auscultation, IV starts, and fluid management.
- Work inside and occasionally extended hours or shift changes based on patient needs.
- Normal or corrected vision and hearing necessary.
- Commitment to safe management of potentially infectious diseases and handling of toxic drug therapies; use of personal protective equipment required.
- Subject to physical and emotional stress in a fast‑paced environment.
