ONA Wage Range: $57.63 to $82.02, dependent on experience

This position is responsible to assess and coordinate direct and indirect perioperative activity (this includes surgical cases, endoscopy, and OB) and patient care. To perform clerical/computer tasks associated with perioperative activity. To assist other perioperative personnel and physicians/surgeons in surgical procedures and related tasks. To prepare the patient psychologically and physically for surgical procedures/treatments. To complete documentation thoroughly, timely, and accurately complying with guidelines therein.
To act as assistant to Anesthetist. To assist in PACU when necessary. To take call on a rotational basis.
- Demonstrates ability to remain calm and level-headed during crisis or emergency situations.
- Handles stress adequately.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of AORN standards and Operating Room principles.
- Knowledge and previous application in aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, and how it relates to surgical and anesthesia procedures.
- Currently licensed as Registered Nurse with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS required through the American Heart Association required upon hire and kept current henceforth.
- Must obtain ACLS and PALS certification required through the American Heart Association within six months of hire and kept current henceforth.
- TNCC and NRP, or equivalent preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- OR experience necessary.
- PACU experience preferred.
- For RNs graduating within the last 12 months, or RNs that have not practiced in an acute care facility within the last 24 months, and have not previously completed a residency program will be required to complete the CMH-provided program.
- Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position.
- Standing and walking most of the time while on duty is necessary.
- Occasional lifting of patients without assistance.
- Ability to work under physical and mental stress for several hours.
- Must be able to understand written and spoken English.
- Must have dexterity and mobility to operate equipment, retrieve supplies off shelves, push stretchers, tables, etc.
- May work in darkened rooms occasionally.
- Must demonstrate safe work practices with hazardous chemicals and ability to wear appropriate personal protective devices.
- Must be able to tolerate wearing a surgical mask for long periods.
