Position: Security Officer (Unarmed)

A hospital security officer is a trusted individual who will serve, protect, and care for our patients, visitors and personnel. Security officers will ultimately act as ambassadors of the hospital and provide security services in addition to exceptional customer service.

Job Requirements
  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional, effective manner.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Have intermediate computer skills to operate Windows, Excel, Word, cell phones, Access Control Systems, and CCTV systems.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
Licensure / Certification
  • Department of Public Safety Standard and Training (DPSST) Unarmed Security Officer training required within 30 days of hire.
  • As a condition of employment and DPSST licensure, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. For DPSST unarmed security license, a high school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license are required.
  • Valid driver's license will be submitted and maintained by the department manager.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; must be American Heart Association (AHA) accredited. If not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of employment.
Education And/or Experience
  • Prior security, military, or police experience preferred.
Must Be Able To
  • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain, snow, or heat.
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift.
  • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to assist in lifting patients as needed either to assist nursing staff, law enforcement, etc.
