Hospital Security Officer Job (union) in Astoria, Oregon

Columbia Memorial Hospital is hiring a full-time Unarmed Security Officer in Astoria, Oregon.

In this hospital security position, you will help protect and care for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property. Security officers also serve as ambassadors for the hospital by providing professional security services and exceptional customer service.

• Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, visitors, employees, and members of the public
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a safe and welcoming hospital environment
• Respond calmly and efficiently during emergencies and crisis situations
• Use computers, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, mobile phones, access-control systems, and CCTV systems
• Patrol and work in indoor and outdoor environments, including rain, cold, snow, and heat
• Stand or walk on various surfaces for extended periods
• Occasionally climb stairs, ramps, or ladders
• Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds
• Assist nursing staff, law enforcement, or other personnel with lifting patients when needed

• Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Professional training must be completed within 30 days of hire
• Applicants must successfully complete the background investigation and drug screening required for employment and DPSST certification
• A high school diploma or GED is required for DPSST certification
• A valid driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire

Previous security, military, or law-enforcement experience is preferred but not required.
