Job Description

Purpose: The Post Secondary Success Career Coach position is a full-time, grant funded position assigned to a building. The Coach will spend the majority of their time in an identified building working with students and teachers on improving career connections across all core content areas in K-12 classrooms and provide embedded professional development for all staff in order to ultimately impact postsecondary success outcomes for all students.

This position also serves as a liaison between families, schools, and community resources to reduce barriers between resources and our students.

This position is responsible for assisting in the development of curriculum and assessment opportunities, research-based instructional methods, aligning of materials and resources to curriculum outcomes, and other leadership responsibilities. The Post Secondary Success Career Coach may also assist in functions such as organizing off campus opportunities for students, managing assessment protocols, supervising students or providing administrative coverage. Additionally, the Post Secondary Success Career Coach may also be involved in supporting and assisting with the implementation of interventions and enrichments as designed by the school's plan for the academic achievement and behavioral support of students considered at-risk.

The Post Secondary Success Career Coach reports directly to the building principal, and will work professionally and collaboratively in this role, and is supervised by the building principal and/or Director of Support Services.

Required Qualifications:
  • State of Kansas certification/licensure
  • Master's Degree, preferred
  • Three or more years of successful teaching experience
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)
Essential Functions: The Post Secondary Success Career Coach collaborates and serves as a coach for teachers and students in these areas:
  • Work with students and families as they transition from middle school to high school to develop and monitor an Individual Plan of Study that meets both the requirements for graduation as well as allow the student to complete real world learning (certifications, pathways, on the job training) while in high school.
  • Will serve as a liaison between home, the school district, and our community partners to provide opportunities and job skills for our students.
  • Will build and strengthen partnerships between the local community college and our school to create structures and opportunities for students who previously have not been successful in traditional school to be able to access the trade and technical programs by their junior year in high school.
  • Will build relationships and work with families to understand the difference postsecondary success means for their child's mental, physical, and future health and development.
  • Will create on-demand help resources, videos, and infographics for families to use to understand the options available to them for financial, career, and postsecondary support for their students.
  • Provide job-embedded professional learning to individual teachers and teams of teachers to support increased career education learning opportunities.
  • Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding curriculum, assessments, and data analysis in their assigned role.
  • Assist fellow educators in understanding and supporting USD 409 vision, mission, goals, and essential beliefs.
  • Plan and facilitate collaborative work between vertical teams for Individual Plans of Study.
  • Maintain accurate records including areas of materials, coaching/interventionist documentation, and budget.
  • Attend professional learning sessions specific to their job function.
