Post Secondary Success Career Coach
Purpose: The Post Secondary Success Career Coach position is a full‑time, grant‑funded position assigned to a building. The Coach will spend the majority of their time in an identified building working with students and teachers on improving career connections across all core content areas in K‑12 classrooms and providing embedded professional development for all staff in order to ultimately impact postsecondary success outcomes for all students;
this position also serves as a liaison between families, schools, and community resources to reduce barriers to resources for students.
Responsibilities include responsibilities such as assisting in the development of curriculum and assessment opportunities, researching instruction methods, aligning materials to curriculum outcomes, managing off‑campus opportunities, supervising students or providing administrative coverage, supporting the implementation of interventions and enrichments, and collaborating with teachers and staff as a coach.
Responsibilities- Work with students and families as they transition from middle school to high school to develop and monitor an Individual Plan of Study that meets graduation requirements and provides real‑world learning (certifications, pathways, on‑the‑job training) while in high school.
- Serve as a liaison between home, the school district, and community partners to provide opportunities and job skills for students.
- Build and strengthen partnerships between the local community college and the school to create structures and opportunities for students who have previously struggled in traditional school to access trade and technical programs by their junior year of high school.
- Build relationships with families to understand the meaning of postsecondary success for their children’s mental, physical, and future health and development.
- Create on‑demand help resources, videos, and infographics for families to understand available options for financial, career, and postsecondary support.
- Provide job‑embedded professional learning to individual teachers and teams of teachers to support increased career education learning opportunities.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding curriculum, assessments, and data analysis in their assigned role.
- Assist educators in understanding and supporting USD 409 vision, mission, goals, and essential beliefs.
- Plan and facilitate collaborative work between vertical teams for Individual Plans of Study.
- Maintain accurate records of materials, coaching/intervention documentation, and budget.
- Attend professional learning sessions specific to the job function.
- State of Kansas certification/licensure
- Master’s Degree, preferred
- Three or more years of successful teaching experience
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to enter data into a computer, read a screen, and print material.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Ability to speak in an audible tone so that others may understand clearly in standard classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
- Requires physical exertion to manually lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 25 pounds.
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
Certified Staff Under the Negotiated Agreement.
EvaluationPerformance evaluations in accordance with the Board’s policy and the Certified Employee Handbook.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $46,500 to $67,400 per year
