Benedictine College is located in Atchison, KS, which is a small town that is a short drive from larger cities such as St. Joseph, MO, and Kansas City, MO.
The Benedictine College School of Engineering has recently completed a $25M expansion and renovation of its engineering building, which provides state-of-the art facilities. The School of Engineering is growing rapidly and currently has 260 students, 14 faculty members, and 2 staff. It offers ABET‑accredited degrees in chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering.
Position Qualifications & ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate should hold a M.S. or Ph.D. in the appropriate focus areas of chemical, civil, or mechanical engineering. He or she must be willing to teach a variety of engineering courses and laboratories as well as some general engineering classes. The candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the development of the School of Engineering. Moreover, he or she is expected to exemplify the integration of the Catholic Faith with the engineering profession.
All teaching positions will be required to:
- Teach inside and outside of main specialization.
- Instruct lecture and laboratory courses.
- Advise students on academics and professional matters (2nd year).
- Support students doing Discovery Day and class projects.
- Develop industry connections for real‑world capstone projects and internships/jobs.
Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering Candidate
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Science with at least 5 years experience or Ph.D. in electrical/computer engineering.
- A demonstrated ability and deep desire to teach the fundamentals of electrical engineering to undergraduate students.
- An ability to work with colleagues across all engineering disciplines.
- Industrial experience or post‑doctoral work.
- A demonstrated potential to grow and strengthen the engineering program at Benedictine College.
- Must have passed FE exam before in‑person interview will be scheduled.
- 5+ years of industrial experience (must have if MS candidate).
- Industry and/or research experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Embedded systems.
- Power generation and transmission.
- Communication systems engineering.
