The HIM Technician is a key member of the Health Information Management team. The role works under the direction of the Manager of Health Information Management and is responsible for performing functions related to document imaging, document retrieval (department rounding), processing of hospital death records and files, and the reception and release of information to ensure compliance with guidelines and requirements related to patient confidentiality and release of information.

The Technician prepares and scans documents, ensuring correct patient identifiers, and performs quality control to ensure the electronic document/image posts to the correct patient’s visit.

• Perform document imaging, document retrieval, and processing of hospital death records and files.
• Handle reception and release of information in compliance with confidentiality guidelines.
• Prepare and scan documents with correct patient identifiers.
• Execute quality control checks to confirm correct patient visit posting.
• Work independently and as a member of a team.
• Follow safe work practices.
• Adhere to all Amberwell procedures and established policies.

• Experience:
  • Minimum required:
    Experience in customer service.
  • Preferred:
    Health information management field.
