Position: Part time Temp Electric Dispatcher
Hourly Rate: $19.50/hr.
Schedule and w ork hours will be expected to be primarily on weekend days or nights and holidays as a standard and may vary depending on needs of department. Week day or night hours may be required to cover an unexpected absence/vacation.
Job Requirements include, but are not limited to the following:- Monitors radio frequencies and incoming telephone lines.
- Receives calls for service.
- Responds to and relays pertinent information to field units and other response agencies.
- Monitors and operates a variety of computer equipment.
- Provides dispatching service for all utility departments including calls for electric lines and poles down, power outages, trees on power lines, gas leaks, water leaks, house fires, general complaints, other emergencies, etc.
- Maintains and files all gas tickets, maintenance orders, outage records, etc.
- Enters outage information into the Outage Management System.
- Clears outages on the OMS once power is restored.
- Prints outage reports as directed.
- Additional duties include screening visitors, customer service, handling customer problems and complaints, processing mail, and providing information to the general public.
- Completes a wide variety of written and computer logs.
- Maintains accurate records and performs data entry.
- Types correspondence as needed.
- Maintains positive public relations at all times, while providing a high service level.
- Employee must exercise confidentiality, initiative, independent judgment, and discretion to handle job functions.
Certifications:
- 18 year or older.
- High School Diploma, GED and/or equivalent work experience.
- Valid Driver's license with history of good driving record.
- One-year experience handling high volume multi-line phone system.
- Knowledge of utility organization and responsibilities of employees to direct incoming telephone and radio calls to appropriate personnel a plus.
- General knowledge of utility system including geographical locations.
- Strong basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

- Ability to operate a computer and telephone system for extended periods of time.

- Ability to be on-call as required.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and non-standard work hours as needed.
