Job Goals
  • To create and provide engaging and challenging work for students in accordance with local and Alabama Department of Early Childhood, Office of School Readiness Classroom Guidelines and Standards.
  • To assist school faculty, staff, and other school system personnel in supporting student achievement and school operations.
  • Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or the Equivalent GED.
  • Must possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, equivalent credential, or nine (9) semester hours of approved coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development, Possess or be working toward a Child Development Associate Credential or an Associates Degree or higher degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Ability to work with and under the direction of the lead teacher.
  • Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates support for the system mission, goals and priorities.
  • Demonstrate skills to collaborate with and work under the guidance of the Lead Classroom Teacher to perform the responsibilities and essential functions of a successful classroom in order to maintain a nurturing learning environment.
  • Determines individual and class needs consistent with district and state instructional goals.
  • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences that comply with local and state curriculum guidelines.
  • Delivers instructional activities in a manner demonstrating a variety of instructional techniques, promoting positive interaction among students, and providing for appropriate practice of activities and skills focusing upon the desired learning outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior that facilitate teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrates the effective evaluation of student needs and progress by engaging in entry-level diagnosis activities, test construction, and record keeping.
  • Becomes familiar with and administers State directed Pre‑K assessment.
  • Seeks assistance of specialists as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the school faculty and staff to promote student learning.
  • Maintains a professional, cooperative working relationship with parents and community.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership; attends 15 hours of the Office of School Readiness sponsored training each year plus a minimum of 15 additional hours of training offered by local or regional programs.
  • Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Implements and follows the First Class Pre‑K Guidelines and Standards as developed by the State of Alabama Early Childhood Education Department.
  • Models appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development and goals established for students.
  • Demonstrates support for the system mission, goals and priorities.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and laws.
  • Models and maintains high ethical standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
  • Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  • Reports to work in a punctual manner and attends work regularly.
  • Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Salary:
    Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule in accordance with the Alabama State Department of Early Childhood Salary Schedule.

    Terms of Employment: 187 days AEA
