Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) District-Wide

Job Goals and Essential Functions

  • Supervise, direct, instruct, and monitor district Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
  • Provide BCBA services for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) eligible students.
  • Work cooperatively and collaborates with Special Education Behavior Coaches and District Behavior Technicians, and Behavior Counselor.
  • Work cooperatively with special education administrators, resource specialists, school psychologists, school psychometrists and special education teachers in developing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans (FBAs/BIPs) for students.
  • Plan, design, develop and assist with the implementation of programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction using the principles of ABA. Management and/or behavioral interventions.
  • Creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process as part/member of an educational team.
  • Administer and/or train staff on the administration of behavior-related assessments including FBAs, BIPs, and the ABLLS assessments.
  • Design and assist staff with data collection, date review, and recommend modifications to behavior plans and BIPs (as needed).
  • Participate in behavior teams providing support and management for the implementations of behavior plans.
  • Maintain appropriate records, assist and provide guidance for teachers and other staff in the implementation of behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Provide coaching and professional development to staff on behavior interventions and supports.
  • Confer with regular classroom teachers, along with special education teachers regarding students with behavioral challenges.
  • Confer with members of IEP Teams, district staff, or individually in an IEP meeting, a conference, to discuss and evaluate student progress/performance for planning, modifying, for the coordination of individual programs.
  • Participate in the referral and/or re-evaluation process for selected students when a diagnosis of ASD is being considered for school-determined eligibility processes (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act or Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA).
  • Assist with maintaining student data and prepare pertinent reports requested by the Director of Special Education.
  • Develop training materials and provide professional development activities to administrators, teachers, instructional assistants/aides in ABA-based strategies, evidence-based strategies, methodologies to address the needs of students with a diagnosis of autism, autism spectrum disorder, as well as those students with other behavioral disorders.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports and interventions for students with or without disabilities.
  • Attend professional development activities as directed by the Director of Special Education.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as designated by the Director of Special Education.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records

    Knowledge of the Limestone County School System functions, departments, personnel, and schools necessary for the efficient communications

    Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment

    Ability to work an expected workday of eight (7.5) hours, or more if necessary

    Ability to lift twenty-five (50) pounds and transport a short distance
