Job Goal

To conduct and interpret psychological and psycho-educational assessments according to professional standards for the purposed of educational decision-making; to assist the district in appropriate identification and evaluation and maintain compliance for the pre-referral special education and gifted education processes.

Qualifications
  • Current Alabama professional educator certificate;
  • Master's Degree in related field with endorsement as a school Psychometrist and related certificate/license;
  • Demonstrate understanding of federal and state special education laws;
  • Knowledge of special education policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge and understanding of academic and behavioral strategies and techniques to assist students in learning;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills;
  • Demonstrate understanding of inclusive education and differentiated
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Conduct and interpret psycho-educational evaluations, achievement assessments, and/or other screenings, surveys, evaluations, etc. as required for eligibility according to the AAC guidelines and timelines for the purposes of initial eligibility, reevaluations and educational planning for special education services for all students processed and served through special education services;
  • Collect necessary data and prepare assessment and/or educational reports regarding student data results for use in determining eligibility and student program and instructional/services planning within timeline compliance;
  • Provide consultation relating to the interpretation of assessment results;
  • Serve on Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams, as appropriate;
  • Assist in the implementation of tracking procedures and requirements for special education eligibility status and timelines;
  • Adhere to local and state timelines and indicators with 100% compliance;
  • Collaborate with other SPE staff to attend Referral, Eligibility, and/or Reevaluation meetings, as
  • Comply with federal and state laws and state and local board policies;
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and any other meetings called by the Special Education Director;
  • Demonstrates computer literacy, such as the ability to utilize current technology to communicate, collect and analyze data;
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all students; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned and related to job
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger dexterity, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move to 50 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Salary

    Based on the Limestone County Board of Education Certified Teacher Salary Scale for Applicable number of days.

    Evaluation

    According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
