Job Goals:
To create and provide engaging and challenging work for students in accordance with local and state courses of study.To assist school faculty, staff, and other school system personnel in supporting student achievement and school operations.Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.Possess and maintain a valid Alabama State teaching certificate with a "P" for grade level.Must be at least 21 years of age or older.Must meet any applicable No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified (HQ) requirements or Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements.Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Performance Responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the system mission, goals and priorities.Determines individual and class needs consistent with district and state instructional goals.Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences that comply with local and state curriculum guidelines.Delivers instructional activities in a manner demonstrating a variety of instructional techniques, promoting positive interaction among students, and providing for appropriate practice of activities and skills focusing upon the desired learning outcomes.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior that facilitate teaching and learning.Demonstrates the effective evaluation of student needs and progress by engaging in entry-level diagnosis activities, test construction, and record keeping.Becomes familiar with and administers State directed Pre-K assessments.Seeks assistance of specialists as needed.Works collaboratively with other members of the school faculty and staff to promote student learning.Maintains a professional, cooperative working relationship with parents and community.Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership; attends 15 hours of the Office of School Readiness sponsored training each year plus a minimum of 15 additional hours of training offered by local or regional programs.Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.Models appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development goals established for students.Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and laws.Implements and follows the Alabama Quality Teaching Standards developed by the Alabama State Department of Education.Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).Models and maintains high ethical standards.Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.Reports to work in a punctual manner and attends work regularly.Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch and kneel and must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary:
Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule.
