Lead Accountant

Experienced accountant responsible for managing financial operations in a senior living community. Oversee accounting records, bank reconciliations, general ledger, monthly close, and financial reporting. Bogart (Athens), GA – in-office. Full-time, weekdays, on-site. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting while supporting operations and growth. Competitive salary, based on experience; includes comprehensive benefits.

The Lead Accountant manages day-to-day accounting operations for a senior living community. This hands-on role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports monthly and year-end closes, reconciles bank and resident accounts, and partners with leadership to maintain strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate accounting records using Quick Books.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Track and reconcile resident accounts, deposits, and leasing-related transactions.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure accurate revenue and expense coding.
  • Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reviews.
  • Support external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Assist with process improvements as the organization grows.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years accounting experience in industry or public accounting.
  • Strong Quick Books expertise.
  • Proven experience with bank reconciliations.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills.
