The College of Engineering at the University of Georgia seeks a part‑time Program Specialist to work with the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS). The role involves coordinating workshops, meetings, and community engagement events; supporting program and administrative operations; managing financial and office tasks; and providing backup support to IRIS staff.
Key Responsibilities Event Support- Plan and coordinate IRIS workshops, meetings, conferences, interviews, and community engagement outreach activities.
- Create and distribute agendas; manage calendar invites, flyers, and RSVPs.
- Oversee reservations, catering, and logistical support for IRIS events.
- Communicate information and updates to event attendees, presenters, and vendors.
- Serve as the day‑of contact for event/meeting logistics, including set‑up and tear‑down.
- Support the mission‑critical work of the IRIS Managing Director and IRIS Director by coordinating office and external communications, day‑to‑day operations, and administrative tasks.
- Represent IRIS, the College of Engineering, and the University of Georgia at campus, external functions, and professional written and verbal communications.
- Serve as a backup to IRIS staff for proxy functions in meetings and events.
- Coordinate with graduate students, staff, faculty, vendors, and stakeholders on purchase orders, check requests, travel requests, expense statements, and travel reimbursements.
- Advise faculty and graduate students on UGA and USG policies and procedures, providing accurate guidance on financial matters.
- Maintain general day‑to‑day functionality within the office to ensure IRIS team goals and projects progress with necessary supplies and resources.
- Communicate regularly and timely with project PIs regarding research and meeting activities, deadlines, and updates.
- Provide updates to IRIS leadership on logistical, program, or project support needs and any barriers to success.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience.
- Experience or knowledge with research and program management.
- FLSA status:
Non‑Exempt. - FTE: 475.
- Non‑benefits eligible.
