Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 2 years of specialized experience.
Position Summary This is a highly responsible technical position requiring experience with the use of sophisticated analytical equipment and use of protocols for preparation of samples for analytical analyses of metals and radionuclides. This individual will be responsible for coordinating all fee for service analytical analyses conducted for metals and radionuclides at SREL, planning and scheduling sample processing, conducting analytical analyses, delivery of data to customers, and final billing.
This individual also will be responsible for maintaining analytical equipment in working order and maintaining proper calibration and QA/QC to ensure data accuracy and precision.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Experience preparing samples for analytical analyses such as ICP-MS and total mercury analysis, conducting analytical analysis on ISP-MC and total mercury analyzer platforms, training others in sample preparation for analytical analysis, chemical inventory, chemical waste management, and chemical safety, and managing fee for service analytical services program. Must possess critical thinking and process improvement skills, find and apply knowledge.
Must possess a logic-based approach to challenges, an adaptive management approach to obstacles, and use university resources responsibly.
