OUA Project Manager (Limited-Term)
The Office of University Architects (OUA) is seeking a Project Manager to oversee planning, design, and construction projects across the University of Georgia campuses. This limited‑term appointment will have a baseline duration of two years, with potential extension based on project volume and complexity. The position is located in Athens, GA and works an 8 am‑5 pm Monday‑Friday schedule.
Responsibilities- Oversee projects from inception through close‑out, including studies, design, construction, and warranty.
- Conduct on‑site visits, meeting with owner, architect, and contractor; manage general project administration.
- Communicate professionally with UGA staff, university and athletic department leadership, design professionals, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Provide direction to design professionals and contractors; evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate services & costs.
- Gather and prepare program, design, final construction documents, equipment lists and construction administration information for multiple projects at various stages of development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience.
Baccalaureate degree in architecture or related field; experience in planning, design, construction and/or project management of renovation and construction projects in a college/university or similar setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies- Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulatory agency guidelines, construction methods and administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish working relationships with faculty and administrative personnel.
- Project Management experience, including management of design professionals and contractors.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
- Foundational skills using graphics and presentation software such as Adobe Acrobat, Auto CAD, Sketch Up.
- Sedentary desk work for computer‑related and administrative tasks.
- Regular on‑site inspections involving walking through active construction sites.
- Travel to active construction sites, possibly including overnight stays.
- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Driving required.
