Role

Description:

ACS is seeking a full-time, on-site OSP Inspector to support an active long-haul fiber construction project in Georgia.

This position will provide field-level inspection and quality oversight of outside plant construction activities, with a primary focus on underground fiber infrastructure. The OSP Inspector will work closely with ACS project leadership, construction crews, and client representatives to verify that work is being completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Verify construction is being completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, client standards, and applicable permit requirements.
  • Inspect HDD, conduit placement, handholes, excavation, restoration, and other underground OSP infrastructure.
  • Review construction drawings, route plans, redlines, and field documentation.
  • Document daily production, field conditions, construction progress, and quality observations.
  • Capture and organize required photographs and supporting field documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports and assist with redlines and as-built documentation.
  • Identify construction deficiencies, potential conflicts, safety concerns, or deviations from approved plans and communicate them promptly to project leadership.
  • Coordinate effectively with construction crews, supervisors, project management, and client representatives.
  • Support utility coordination and document field conflicts or unforeseen site conditions.
  • Assist with quality assurance and closeout efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain professional, clear, and timely communication between field operations and project leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in OSP telecommunications, fiber construction, utility construction, field inspection, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of underground OSP construction methods, including HDD, conduit installation, excavation, handholes, and restoration.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, route maps, and project specifications.
  • Experience preparing field reports, daily documentation, photographs, redlines, and construction records.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize quality issues and construction deviations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with construction crews, subcontractors, project managers, inspectors, and client representatives.
  • Comfortable using mobile devices, email, spreadsheets, and digital field-reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently in an active construction environment while maintaining consistent communication with project leadership.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working on DOT or public right-of-way projects.
  • Familiarity with utility locates, utility conflicts, permitting requirements, and ROW construction.
  • Experience with HDD inspection and underground telecom construction.
  • Previous telecommunications or utility QA/QC inspection experience.
