Minimum Qualifications Position Summary
This internship offers hands-on learning opportunities and practical experience communicating research, extension, and education projects to diverse audiences in coastal Georgia through illustration. The intern will collaborate with Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant communicators to create a series of environmental illustrations featuring flora and fauna native to coastal Georgia. These illustrations will be used across a range of print and digital materials.
The communications program advances Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant's brand identity by creatively sharing the organization's work, priorities, and impact with diverse audiences. The communications team collaborates closely with education, research and extension faculty to develop engaging outreach materials that bring coastal topics to life.
Objectives:
* Design a series of coastal illustrations for print and digital deliverables that educate communities about the coastal environment
* Create original illustrations and/or graphic designs that highlight the beauty and value of coastal natural resources
* Build knowledge, skills, and abilities in science writing and visual communication
* Organize and adapt materials for use across web and social media platforms, with a focus on coastal habitats
* Collaborate with faculty and staff to review, edit, finalize, and package project deliverables (graphics, written content, project files, etc.)

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
* Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
* Experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Create Suite, email and social media
* Valid state driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Ability to function as a team member of the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant faculty, staff, and intern team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* At least 18 years of age
* Intern should be currently enrolled in accredited college/university
* Completion of internship application and standard background check
* Must complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification upon being hired
* United States citizen or possess a valid U.S. work visa
